ASPECTS OF THE SCIENCE OF SUSTAINABILITY IN THE PARCEIROS DO MAR PROJECT

Abstract

Socio-environmental issues, such as those that challenge the conservation of marine fauna, press the need for a review of scientific rationality and Sustainability Science emerges as a new proposal for a paradigm. This experience report aims to reflect on the aspects of Sustainability Science that have been incorporated into the educational actions of the Parceiros do Mar Project. In 2022, the Project operated in the municipality of Areia Branca, in Rio Grande do Norte, impacting around two thousand people and covering 18 local institutions. Lectures, scientific exhibitions, puppet theater, interactive games, beach cleaning efforts, bird watching, workshops and discussions on documentaries were held. The project converges to the proposal of the Science of Sustainability by seeking public participation, an approach at different spatial and temporal scales, as well as the incorporation of inter and transdisciplinary content.
