Abstract

This article aims to understand how Instagram can be used as a pedagogical resource in a Brazilian public school. This paper is part of a larger research project entitled "Digital Literacy: use of digital resources by teachers and students in a high school", linked to the Universidade Xxxx. The study is grounded in the field of Applied Linguistics and in the perspective of literacy studies. It is a qualitative research approach and is framed as a case study and field study. Data collection took place between the months of January and December 2021 by observing the social network (Instagram) of the field school and capturing videos and images posted. The results allow us to affirm that social networks can contribute to the education process and also bring the school closer to the community, the students, and the teachers when they are outside the school walls, maintaining a close relationship between the different actors, but only if Instagram has the purpose of teaching and not only to divulge the school actions.
