Abstract

Mental health is a topic frequently discussed in society, with increasing rates of suicide attempts worldwide, this has been the 4th leading cause of death among young people and adults up to 29 years of age. Based on this, the need arose to analyze the population treated for attempted suicide by CAPS in the Conesul region of Rondônia. This is a retrospective descriptive study with a mixed approach, that is, qualitative and quantitative. Developed from the collection of data obtained through medical records of cases of suicide attempts of users treated at the Psychosocial Care Center of a city in Conesul de Rondônia, with the first half of 2023 being the period of analysis, through the following variables: age group, sex, education, frequency of suicide attempts, thoughts and planning of death, whether you have already undergone psychological and drug treatment, and the diagnostic hypothesis for clinical profile analysis. 480 medical records were collected. After careful analysis and application of the inclusion and exclusion criteria, only 439 samples were included to develop the research. The largest number of attempts occurred among individuals aged 19 to 60, corresponding to 74.94% of cases attended, with women being the most frequent. The high number who reported “yes” to “Thoughts of death” highlights distressing thoughts in the population analyzed. Greater frequency of users claimed to be undergoing drug treatment when compared to psychological treatment. In general, the data from this study highlight the importance and high occurrence of depression and anxiety disorders in suicidal behavior. It also emphasizes the importance of early identification, proper diagnosis, and targeted treatment for these mental health conditions.
