Abstract

Burns are caused by different agents and classified into three categories, the first grade, the second grade and the third grade. The main complaint reported by the burn patient is pain, regardless of the degree of injury. Other aggravating factors are physical changes such as metabolic changes, loss of fluid volume, deformities in the body and the high risk of infection. There are several resources used in the treatment, able to accelerate the healing of burns, among them we can mention the use of therapeutic laser. Therapeutic laser is a resource used to treat them, the most common of which are Helium-Neon Laser (HeNe) and Gallium Arsenide (AsGa), which have several effects capable of accelerating the cicatricial process. The objective of the present study is to describe the effects of therapeutic lasers in the treatment of burns. For this bibliographic review, searches were conducted in the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO), Google Academic and books arranged in the Julio Bordignon Library (FAEMA). Through the study, it is observed that the therapeutic laser helps in tissue regeneration, reducing the inflammatory process, increasing the proliferation of capillaries, increasing angiogenesis, increasing ATP production, among others. Regardless of the degree of injury, its effects are beneficial in the treatment of burns, accelerating the healing process.
